It will benefit you greatly if you have multiple characters with Canter from Emblem Sigurd, as well as bringing along Seadall to Dance on people. Don’t worry about occupying the ballista after you capture it, just make it across the river before that happens (unless you’re okay leaving behind a flier, in which case, they can always catch up).Īlso once you cross the midway point and several turns pass, reinforcements will emerge right beside the southeast ballista and keep regenerating until the end of the battle.Take out a few if you find them in your way, but for the most part, once you’re in the area, Leif will start heading your way anyway. Once you cross the midway point of the map, Leif will destroy one of the bridges so you can’t go back'. Keep your patience - this battle is designed to keep you slow. They shouldn’t be the priority for you, as though they are annoying, they will use up their limited stave uses pretty recklessly and be left with absolutely nothing. Once you take the one closest to you, your maneuverability skyrockets, but there’s also those mages with pesky status staves. Your number one goal should be to disable the two ballistas in the south. Don’t think about trying to cheese it and send any fliers across the water to catch Leif by surprise either, as there’s a ballista over there and your fliers will almost certainly fall. There is a small vanguard that starts right in front of you that you can defeat for some extra goodies, but their main purpose is to draw you into range for the ballista directly south of you. With three major ballistas set up across the map, Leif’s forces can strike you from virtually anywhere after you leave your corner. Because of this, and the aforementioned mages with Freeze and Fracture, this battle has a much slower pace than pretty much every other Bond-focused Paralogue. There are siege weapons everywhere on this map that the enemy controls and they all hit surprisingly hard. Oh and an abundance of ballistas and units with Freeze and Fracture all over the place. However, there is a large body of water between you and an entire battlefield with the only significant landmark being a couple bridges. You start on the upper left side of the map, with Leif being on the upper right. However, despite the game telling you the mission’s levels are around the same as the next story mission, the levels of the enemies are higher than what is stated. At the point in the story the mission unlocks, you should have enough Emblem Rings to be in a great position to take it on. Rugged - the GL612 and GL622 can withstand a 1m (3 feet) drop directly onto concrete or 1.5m (5 feet) pushover on tripod, eliminating costly repairs. The GL622 has an Automatic Axis Alignment function, allowing the user to set-up simply and quickly, maintaining accuracy and eliminating costly errors. If an alignment is off, error can be introduced and exaggerated. Automatic Axis Alignment - A critical factor when working with grade is alignment to the grade hub. This keeps the laser beam fixed to a receiver in a set a position eliminating any error that can be caused by fluctuating temperatures, keeping the laser accurate and error free. Additionally the PlaneLok function can be activated. This is can firstly be resolved through the automatic temperature check that the laser performs where the internal software calibrates the laser to its optimal performance based on the temperature. Temperature Compensation & PlaneLok- As temperature fluctuates throughout the working day, the internal components of a laser can expand and contract which can cause some additional error without the user noticing. Anti-Vibration Filter - A laser can be affected high vibration or strong wind, especially when the laser is mounted on a tall tripod –both the GL612 and G622 have an anti-vibration filter that can be set according to the conditions allowing work to continue regardless of wind conditions or excessive vibrations. Automatic self-leveling - provides fast, easy set-up for horizontal level, grade or vertical alignment Automatic Grade Matching - meaning the laser moves to the on-grade position on the receiver automatically by communicating wirelessly with the receiver and the grade is then calculated – this is generally used when a constant fall is desired but the grade may not be known (renewing existing driveways or matching existing surfaces) Grade Range - Large, fully compensated grade range from -25% to 25% - keeping the laser leveled no matter what grade you need reducing errors and improving productivity. Designed to be used on the toughest jobsites the GL612 and GL622 can withstand a 1m (3 feet) _ Features & Benefits: Multiple Applications - the Spectra Precision GL612 and GL622 provides the ability to control level, alignment, single grade /dual grade (GL622 only) and set 90 degrees. Both GL612 and GL622 are self-leveling in vertical, allowing more productivity by being able to carry out more tasks such as building axis alignment or setting 90 degrees or aligning anchor bolts. The HL750 can be paired with another HL750 turning the second receiver into a remote display that could allow a machine operator to see what the rodman is seeing when dipping for levels. Automatic Grade Matching basically means that the laser moves to the on-grade position on the receiver and the grade is then calculated – this is generally used when a constant fall is desired but the grade may not be known (renewing existing driveways or matching existing surfaces). Wireless communication between the receiver and the laser allows advanced functionality such as Automatic Grade Matching to be achieved. The Digital Readout allows the user to get to the on grade position faster as the distance is displayed to the on grade position in mm, or inches, fractional inches. Each laser package includes the advanced HL750 Digital Readout Receiver that can be used at an operating diameter of up to 800m (2,600 feet). The ability to operate the laser whilst working away from the laser transmitter can significantly reduce set-up times and increase productivity. The graphical, menu driven interface makes the lasers simple and easy to use and can be set to 16 different languages. Both lasers come with a radio remote control that provides fully functional capabilities up to 100m (330 feet) from the laser transmitter – even from the cab of a machine. Spectra Precision GL622 Dual Slope Grade Laser Easy-To-Use, Full Featured Automatic Grade Lasers The GL612 Single Grade Laser and GL622 Dual Grade Laser are rugged, automatic self-leveling lasers with grade capability from -25% to + 25% and can be used for a wide variety of grade, excavating and alignment applications by general and specialty contractors. Photoshop and Lightroom complement each other and are now available together, but only by monthly subscription through Adobe’s Creative Cloud service, at $10/month. Camera Raw and Lightroom have identical processing functions and can produce identical results. Camera Raw is equivalent to the Develop module in Lightroom, Adobe’s cataloguing and raw processing software. Most have free trial copies available.Īdobe Camera Raw (ACR), Photoshop, Bridge, and Lightroom, the standards to measure others byĬost: $10 a month by subscription, includes ACR, Photoshop, Bridge, and LightroomĪdobe Camera Raw (ACR) is the raw development plug-in that comes with Photoshop and Adobe Bridge, Adobe’s image browsing application that accompanies Photoshop. Here are the image processing programs I looked at. Export that folder of raw images to “intermediate JPGs” for assembly into a movie.Įven so, not all these contenders are up to the task.Copy its settings to the hundreds of other raw files in the time-lapse set, then ….But as with Lightroom, layering of images – to stack, composite, and mask them – is beyond their ability.įor processing time-lapse sequences, however, we don’t need, nor can we use, the ability to layer and mask several images into one composite. The others are better described as Adobe Lightroom competitors – programs that can catalog image libraries and develop raw image files, with some offering adjustment layers for correcting color, contrast, etc. However, a number of contenders offer excellent features and might replace at least one member of Adobe’s image processing suite.įor example, only four of these programs can truly serve as a layer-based editing program replacing Photoshop. If you are hoping there’s a clear winner in the battle against Adobe, one program I can say does it all and for less cost and commitment, I didn’t find one. This review expands upon and updates mini-reviews I included in my Nightscapes and Time-Lapses eBook, shown at right. Even so, I think you will find there’s plenty to pick from! So sorry, fans of Paintshop Pro (though see my note at the end), Photoline, Picture Window Pro, or Xara Photo & Graphic Designer. I’ve indicated these.īut I did not test any Windows-only programs. I did not test these programs for other more “normal” types of images.Īlso, please keep in mind, I am a Mac user and tested only programs available for MacOS, though many are also available for Windows. I tested more than ten contenders as alternatives to Adobe’s image processing software, evaluating them ONLY for the specialized task of editing demanding nightscape images taken under the Milky Way, both for single still images and for time-lapses of the moving sky. That is the question many photographers are asking with the spate of new image processing programs vying to “kill Photoshop.” However, shared and exclusive locks are incompatible (even semantically). Among them, the page with an X lock acquired by UserA. Try to attempt a shared (S) lock on the pages needed to display the list. This will work as IX and IS on a table are compatible. This lock is used to establish a lock hierarchy in order to perform read-only operations. UserB’s thread will:Īcquire an Intent Shared (IS) lock on the Invoice table. This means that the session will be the only one allowed to modify that row until it releases this lock.Īt the same time, UserB wants to get a list of the invoices for current month and unfortunately, the invoice UserA is editing sits in that list. This lock is used to establish a lock hierarchy in order to perform data modifications.Īn Exclusive (X) lock on the row userA is editing. To perform this operation, the thread associated to that session inside SQL Server database engine has to acquire and hold:Īn Intent-Exclusive (IX) lock on the Invoice table and on the page, that contain the row userA is editing. UserA is currently editing an invoice, which implies an UPDATE statement against an Invoice table with a WHERE clause that restricts to a particular value of InvoiceId column of that table. Let’s assume that we have two database users already connected to SQL Server using an application: UserA and UserB. We will take some time to understand blocking before talking about deadlocks as they seem to be the worst case of blockingĪ blocking situation can be understood with the following example. This second case is commonly referred to as “blocking”. Still, intuitively, we could say that a deadlock falls into the second case, the one that tells other sessions to wait for a resource, but this wait might never end. For that reason, Microsoft provided a documentation page about what they call lock compatibility. Let’s notice that all locking modes are not compatible. Choosing a mode instead of another to access a given resource in a session will either let other sessions (or transaction) access the same resource or will make other sessions wait for that resource to be unlocked. Actually, we can acquire a lock on different kind of resources (row identifier, key, page, table…) and using different modes (shared, exclusive…). In relational database management systems, locking is a mechanism that happens every time. We could intuitively understand it as a lock that leads to a dead end… So, what is a “deadlock”? Etymologically, it can be divided into two root words: “dead” and “lock”. Then we will see that SQL Server actually has some tools to help detect their occurrences and get everything we need to find and fix it, although the solution might be simpler said than done… So, in the following sections, we will try to understand, basically, what a deadlock is and how it occurs with a practical example in T-SQL. These actions would lead to either a lower occurrence frequency or a total disappearance of deadlock conditions. After reading this article you will be able to explain how a deadlock can occur and how we can get extended information about this deadlock so that we will be able to diagnose and take the appropriate actions. This article is the first one of a series that will focus on deadlock issues and reporting. Due to their nature and like any similar blocking situation, deadlocks can have a direct impact on user experience and the more they occur, the bigger the impact. Sometimes, poorly written code or lack of indexes will generate blocking conditions that we refer to as a“Deadlock”. As a DBA, I’ve been, more than, confronted with performance problems. Exceptions may be made and the final say goes to the moderators. Self-Promotion is prohibited unless posted and presented as self-promotion, and only in the General Discussion Thread.
Even though they are not made of wood, wood putties give a very similar finish-which can help preserve the aesthetic appeal of the wooden furniture you are trying to fix. Wood putties are actually synthetic and are used for tending to wood that has already been varnished and stained. Wood Putty: Know the DifferenceĪlthough wood filler and wood putty seem similar, they are very different products with different uses. If you are fixing wooden fixtures in a bathroom or have a generally humid climate, however, you should consider using outdoor wood fillers for indoor projects. For external or outdoor fixing, stick with a durable and water-resistant option that does not leave your repairs at the mercy of the weather. Indoor fillers can easily be water-based and quick-drying since they are not exposed to the weather or any damaging forces. Keeping in mind the area where you are looking to work is also very important. If you are thinking of keeping the extra filling in your garage or attic, buy small sealed cans or tubes that can be used on the spot when needed. That said, buying in just the quantity you need is the best way to go. It also isn’t advised to keep wood filler around in case it reacts with the atmosphere and dries up. While it is easy to buy a wood filler that comes in a squeezable tube, it’s recommended to buy wood filler in tin cans for larger projects. The quantity in which wood fillers can be bought varies greatly. That said, always pick a wood filler based on the project you are looking to work on. On the downside, the drying time can significantly vary based on the type of wood filler and its formula. For staining and painting, the minimum waiting time is usually half an hour. Most wood fillers dry up almost instantly, making them sandable in about fifteen to twenty minutes. Drying timeĭrying time is essential for people who must be quick with their projects and repairs. In some cases, you can even purchase a plastic wood filler that is synthetic. Petroleum-based fillers, on the other hand, are waterproof and durable-making them ideal for outdoor use. Water-based fillers have less odor and dry quickly, making them perfect for indoor use. Water-based wood fillers have sawdust and wood dust suspended in water, whereas petroleum-based ones are suspended in petroleum-based substances. Wood fillers are classified into two types: water-based and petroleum-based. To ensure you buy the perfect wood filler for your woodworking needs, here’s a list of factors you should keep in mind before making your final purchase. Factors to Consider When Buying a Wood Filler There are many different types of wood fillers available in the market, and you can easily paint over them as well. Commonly used to seal cracks and crevices in old wooden furniture or floorboards, wood fillers tend to dry up quickly and will ensure whatever cracks you are concealing are impenetrable. What Is a Wood Filler?Ī wood filler is a substance made from wood byproducts like sawdust or wood dust, which is suspended in a water or petroleum base. If you are relatively new to wood filling, here’s a comprehensive and informational buying guide for you. Picking the right wood filler greatly depends on the wood you are working with, as well as the damage you are looking to repair. Explore the ways a curriculum guides the learning environment, learning experiences, and adult-child interactions. It also highlights the importance of understanding childrens development and learning. However, issues arise when you start to view the site on a narrow screen device. This suite describes how education staff can implement a responsive curriculum. The content images have been set so that if the body element becomes smaller than the image, the images start to shrink so that they always stay inside the body, rather than overflowing it.If the site is being viewed on a narrower screen, the important detail in the center of the image (the people) can still be seen, and the excess is lost off either side. The header image has been set so that its center always stays in the center of the header, no matter what width the heading is set at.In viewports below that width, the body will stay at 100% of the width of the viewport. The body content has been set to a maximum width of 1200 pixels - in viewports above that width, the body remains at 1200px and centers itself in the available space. This works well on a wide screen device, such as a laptop or desktop (you can see the example live and find the source code on GitHub.) We won't discuss the CSS much in this lesson, except to say that: The header image will likely span the whole of the width of the header, and the content image will fit somewhere inside the content column.
